Early morning at 6 o’clock was raining. We had ready to go to the pineapple plantation using bicycle and raincoat. Our planning today is harvesting the pineapple. This trip was accompanied by one of the farmers. The plantation can be taken approximately 10 minutes by bicycle. The pineapple plantation is not far from the highway, so it looks very large and makes us more excited. When we get there, the farmer gave us some gloves and knifes that will be used for harvesting.
By the farmer’s directive, the first thing that we have to know is about the best kind of the pineapples. The yellow color of pineapples or a little bit of it that is the criteria of harvest. The process of cutting the pineapples is leaving behind 2 centimeter of the stem and just for cutting once. The pineapples are putted on the cover net of the pineapple tree, in order to be easy when the machine take away the harvests. Machine was operated to taking all of pineapple harvests.
During the harvesting, our spirit rose even the rain was down, that makes the area of plantation become slippery. And we decided to take a rest for a moment. Next to the step of harvesting, picking the pineapple harvests using the machine, this job is worked by two people that one of them had take the harvests and another one operated the machine.
Based on the experience of the farmers, one harvesting can produce 1200 kilogram of pineapples. This yield will be export to the market or other consumer outside this village. Their principle is consistency for the best quality of the harvests. Because of it, that the harvests are produced must be really selected.
